Delicate Death

Meadows Chorale and Diva Dolce are featured in a concert that combines two powerful works by contemporary American composers - both works explore themes of mortality, rebirth and renewal. Nico Muhly’s How Soon? incorporates the words of the George Herbert poem Mortification in a mesmerizing setting for women’s choir and chamber ensemble. David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Little Match Girl Passion, scored for mixed choir, soloists and percussion, combines the children’s story by Hans Christian Andersen with paraphrased translations of texts from J. S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. The result is a poignant and deeply moving modern-day parable that moves from intense suffering to soothing hope.

*In lieu of admission, the Meadows choirs ask that you make a donation to the North Texas Food Bank through ntfb.org; food items may also be donated in person at the concert.
