“Journey to the Hundred Acre Wood” will be a musical celebration of all things young, including Meadows composer Simon Sargon, who is celebrating his 75th birthday! The program will present Sargon’s The Town Musicians of Bremen, featuring Meadows Associate Dean and Professor of Theatre Kevin Hofeditz narrating the Brothers Grimm story of the adventures of a small band of animals traveling to Bremen to become the town’s musicians. Professor of Music David Karp will then narrate Anthony Plog’s Animal Ditties, introducing the young-at-heart to the various animals in Plog’s signature piece. No children’s concert would be complete without a visit with Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends; Meadows student soprano Rebecca Thompson and members of the Wind Ensemble will bring the Hundred Acre Wood to life with a performance of Oliver Knussen’s Hums and Songs of Winnie-the-Pooh. The evening will conclude with
the world premiere of Meadows student composer Uriah Rinzel’s The Lakeshore, a musical depiction of the composer’s memories of summers spent at the lake.
