We hope you can join us for the 20th anniversary of SMU Meadows School of the Arts’ annual spring gala, “Meadows at the Winspear 2013,” which directly supports student scholarships. As in the past five years, proceeds from the event will be dedicated to the extremely successful Meadows Scholars initiative, which continues to raise the profile of Meadows nationally and internationally.
Dance performances include Balanchine's Valse Fantaisie, set to Mikhail Glinka music; a pas de deux from Watershed by Adam Hougland, set to the music of Friandises by composer Christopher Rouse; the premiere of In the City, a new work by Danny Buraczeski set to Leonard Bernstein's "Three Dance Episodes" from the hit musical On The Town; and a new Rite of Spring by Dutch choreographer Joost Vrouenraets, with set by Russell Parkman and lights by Steve Woods.
In honor of this special anniversary year, we invite YOU to join us:
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s event honors Sara Martineau. Event chairs are Jennifer Altabef (B.A. Journalism, ’78) and Amy Meadows; honorary chairs are Carolyn and David Miller.
