Meadows Wind Ensemble: Cityscapes

Over the past 25 years or so, not only has Dallas’s skyline changed dramatically, but the development of the city’s Arts District has been nothing short of remarkable! The MWE celebrates our city’s transformation with Cityscapes, a program featuring Dallas Symphony Pops conductor Jeff Tyzik’s composition Cityscapes for Brass Quintet and Wind Ensemble. The program will stay true to the “city” theme with performances of Olivier Messiaen’s iconic (and wickedly difficult) Couleurs de la cité celeste and Aaron Copland’s Quiet City, and will conclude with a performance of Stephen Paulus’s Concerto for Piano and Wind Ensemble, featuring Meadows graduate student Nick German on piano. The Concerto was written on commission for the MWE and this performance is a tribute to Paulus, a longtime friend of the Ensemble who passed away last year. Join the MWE for an old-fashioned “all-city” band concert!
