Flutist Jean Ferrandis and pianist Angela Favazza perform Franck’s Sonata, Bizet/Borne’s Carmen Fantasy and Poulenc’s Sonata. Ferrandis is an internationally renowned flautist and conductor who has performed in prestigious concert halls around the world, including the Salle Pleyel and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Taipei Arts Center, Wigmore Hall in London, La Fenice in Venice, Hamarikyu Hall in Tokyo, the Vigado in Budapest, the Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He has collaborated with esteemed musicians Leonard Bernstein, Tibor Varga, Laurent Petitgirard, Yoram David, Gidon Kremer and Emile Naoumoff. Leonard Bernstein was so impressed by his performance of the adagio from Mozart’s D major concerto that he remarked, “It is Pan himself!” and subsequently composed a cadenza for Ferrandis. In addition to his performing career, Ferrandis serves as professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris and at California State University, Fullerton. This event is part of the 2017 French Cultures Festival.
