Dalí’s “Aliyah”: A Moment in Jewish History

On view for the first time since its acquisition by the Meadows Museum in 2017, a series of 25 large-scale lithographic prints from Salvador Dalí’s late oeuvre offers a contrasting complement to the museum exhibition Dalí: Poetics of the Small, 1929–1936. The commissioned series, completed by the artist in 1968, commemorated the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel. Dalí took inspiration from both the Old Testament and contemporary history to address a variety of subject matter related to Jewish history and diaspora, spanning the course of over 2,000 years.
