Liudmila Georgievskaya: Faculty Piano Recital

Award-winning Russian pianist Liudmila Georgievskaya presents a solo recital. An honors graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, she received an Artist Certificate from SMU and is currently on the Meadows faculty. Described as “authoritative and musical” (Dallas Morning News) with a “sharp, inquisitive mind shaping the performance” (The Guardian), she has performed in Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Netherlands, France, England, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Panama and across the United States.

Meadows Wind Ensemble: Cityscapes

Over the past 25 years or so, not only has Dallas’s skyline changed dramatically, but the development of the city’s Arts District has been nothing short of remarkable! The MWE celebrates our city’s transformation with Cityscapes, a program featuring Dallas Symphony Pops conductor Jeff Tyzik’s composition Cityscapes for Brass Quintet and Wind Ensemble.

The Ecstasies Above

“In Heaven a spirit doth dwell whose heart-strings are a lute…” So begins The Ecstasies Above, a setting of Edgar Allan Poe’s poem Israfel by British composer Tarik O’Regan. The Meadows Chorale, joined by members of Meadows’ new music ensemble, SYZYGY, will present this shimmering work – and others – in a concert featuring music that celebrates celestial wonders.

Emerging Artists Recital Series

Meadows Distinguished Performer Concert Series: Alessio Bax and the Escher String Quartet: Russian Evening

Two Avery Fisher Career Grant winners, the Escher String Quartet and pianist Alessio Bax, who is also a Johnson-Prothro Artist-in-Residence at SMU Meadows, will join forces for the first time in a special Russian program including the stunning Quartet No. 9 by Shostakovich and the larger-than-life Piano Quintet by Sergei Taneyev.

Emanuel Borok Valentine’s Concert: Music and Poetry Inspired by Love, with narrator Mark Landson

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a free evening of beautiful music and poetry dedicated to lovers everywhere. Distinguished violin Artist-in-Residence Emanuel Borok, retired concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony, and pianist Annie Lin will perform romantic works by Brahms, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and other well-known composers. Accompanying them will be narrator Mark Landson, founder of Neo Camerata and Open Classical, who will read love poems by Shakespeare, Keats, Burns and King Solomon, among others.
