“Laudate” is the Latin word for “praise” and the underlying theme of this final concert of the season. The program will feature sacred and secular works, including Maurice Duruflé’s rich and melodious Requiem for chorus and orchestra. Join us in the spacious acoustic of Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church for this beautiful evening of music.

A Tree of Song

“A tree of yellow leaves, lit up by the evening sun, like notes that are waiting to be sung. All I do is listen to the tree and let its notes fall into my mind. …” This lovely text by Charles Bennett is representative of the afternoon’s program, which features choral works about nature and our relationship with the world around us.

A Different Breath

The Ecstasies Above

“In Heaven a spirit doth dwell whose heart-strings are a lute…” So begins The Ecstasies Above, a setting of Edgar Allan Poe’s poem Israfel by British composer Tarik O’Regan. The Meadows Chorale, joined by members of Meadows’ new music ensemble, SYZYGY, will present this shimmering work – and others – in a concert featuring music that celebrates celestial wonders.
