Meadows Distinguished Performer Concert Series - Joaquín Achucarro: Piano Recital

The Distinguished Performer Concert Series at SMU Meadows School of the Arts opens its 2017-18 season with a rare solo recital by world-renowned concert pianist, recording artist and Joel Estes Tate Professor Joaquín Achúcarro. The concert will be held Friday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Caruth Auditorium, 6101 Bishop Blvd. on the SMU campus. Admission is $14 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $8 for SMU students, faculty and staff.

Catharine Lysinger: Faculty Piano Recital

Meadows Distinguished Performer Concert Series: Alessio Bax Solo Piano Concert

Johnson-Prothro Artist-in-Residence Alessio Bax, gold medalist of both the 1997 Hamamatsu International Piano Competition and the 2000 Leeds International Piano Competition and a 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, presents his only solo recital in the DFW area this season. The concert will feature works by Mozart, Schubert, Scriabin and Ravel.

Liudmila Georgievskaya and Thomas Schwan: Piano Duo Concert

Acclaimed pianists and Meadows alumni Liudmila Georgievskaya and Thomas Schwan present an engaging and demanding two-piano recital. The program will include Ernst Naumann’s transcription of Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring in the composer’s own arrangement for two pianos.
