Paweł Wnuk Faculty Bassoon Recital

Liudmila Georgievskaya Chamber Music Recital

Pianist and SMU Meadows faculty member Liudmila Georgievskaya will be joined by fellow faculty members and other acclaimed musicians, including Kari Kettering (cello), Corinna Nash-Wnuk (flute), Pawel Wnuk (bassoon), Paul Garner (clarinet), Victor Diaz (piano), and Thomas Schwan (piano, composer), for an evening of beautiful chamber music masterpieces. The concert will feature music by Beethoven, Gaubert, Glinka and Berg, and the American premiere of Thomas Schwan’s Canone Infinito (2017) for piano six-hands.

Liudmila Georgievskaya Solo Piano Recital

Award-winning Russian pianist, SMU alumnus and faculty member Dr. Liudmila Georgievskaya presents a solo recital with music of Schubert, Liszt and Ravel. Jamal Mohamed: An Evening of Country and Eastern Music

Jamal Mohamed, renowned percussionist and director of the Meadows World Music Ensemble, presents a concert of folk and classical music from a variety of countries. The concert will feature international and local musicians including Poovalur Sriji on mridangam (wooden double-headed drum of southern India), Ehsan Matoori on Persian santur (box zither), Derrick Horne and Michael Nesuda on guitars and Jonathan Jones on clarinet.

Faculty member Drew Lang presents a percussion recital with pieces and instruments that audiences might not expect to see, incorporating unusual solo instruments, electronics and a rock band, Scarlet Vermillion. Meadows Distinguished Performer Concert Series - Joaquín Achucarro: Piano Recital

The Distinguished Performer Concert Series at SMU Meadows School of the Arts opens its 2017-18 season with a rare solo recital by world-renowned concert pianist, recording artist and Joel Estes Tate Professor Joaquín Achúcarro. The concert will be held Friday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Caruth Auditorium, 6101 Bishop Blvd. on the SMU campus. Admission is $14 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $8 for SMU students, faculty and staff.
