Jamal Mohamed: An Evening of Country and Eastern Music

Jamal Mohamed, renowned percussionist and director of the Meadows World Music Ensemble, presents a concert of folk and classical music from a variety of countries. The concert will feature international and local musicians including Poovalur Sriji on mridangam (wooden double-headed drum of southern India), Ehsan Matoori on Persian santur (box zither), Derrick Horne and Michael Nesuda on guitars and Jonathan Jones on clarinet.

The Distinguished Performer Concert Series at SMU Meadows School of the Arts opens its 2017-18 season with a rare solo recital by world-renowned concert pianist, recording artist and Joel Estes Tate Professor Joaquín Achúcarro. The concert will be held Friday, September 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Caruth Auditorium, 6101 Bishop Blvd. on the SMU campus. Award-winning piano faculty member Catharine Lysinger presents a program of works by Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev and Barber for solo piano.
